What prompted you to get admitted into the CA course? What were the things you considered when you took that decision?

Firstly, it was my liking towards accounts and mathematics that prompted me to get admitted into the CA course. Secondly, everyone in my family encouraged me to go for CA since I was a bright student right from the beginning. Thirdly, the professor at my coaching classes – Shri NandkumarBalasubramanian Sir also encouraged me to go for CA.

Tell us about your articleship life and the learnings, be it technical/non-technical/any interesting happenings?

Talking about articleship life, I learnt what it is to be a CA. It requires a huge reserve of knowledge, a lot of patience and at the same time, a cool and calm mind to deal with deadlines. There were times when I had to upload about 12-15 Tax Audit Reports in the last 2 days and it was crazy. But pulling it off on time gives you an immense amount of satisfaction and happiness.

Which courses from CA have been the most useful?

All the courses from CA help you in your life – be it professional life like providing advisory to clients or personal life like buying a residential property (which requires checking a lot of documents). However, for me, the courses of Taxation and Strategic Financial Management have been the most useful because the course of Taxation helped me understand the tax system of India and accordingly, provide advisory to the clients and the course of Strategic Financial Management helped me in pursuing the course of Actuarial Science.

In retrospect, what has been your expected/unexpected and most cherished gain from your CA journey?

I can say that my most cherished gain from the CA journey is the level of knowledge that I have developed and the amount of experience in dealing with clients that I have accumulated. A sound combination of knowledge and soft skills is required to be successful in life and CA helps you develop both of them.

Post the course completion, is there any key personal/professional experience which you have been immensely proud of and would like to share with readers?

An All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) in the CA final exams is something I am immensely proud of. Apart from that, I had also managed to handle a 5-year Service Tax audit of one of my clients and I had also delivered a speech on GST in front of an audience of 150 people. These are the 2 things I cherish in my professional life, which has given me immense pleasure and satisfaction.

Any words of advice for future CA aspirants?

The most important aspect to be considered is belief in yourself. CA is, no doubt, tough but confidence in yourself will make you tougher. Further, practice, revise and re-revise. Practice is the key to success and practising well beforehand will ensure you don’t bleed during the battle. Finally, stick to the material provided by the Institute. It is comprehensive and sufficient. All the best!
