1) What prompted you to get admitted into the CA course? What were the things you considered when you took that decision?

As a child I was always interested in Maths and Economics, so a Finance degree seemed to be the logical progression for me. Also, CA being one of the most prestigious course in that field, I considered it strongly and ended up doing it.

2) Tell us about your articleship life and the learnings, be it technical/non-technical/any interesting happenings?

I had done my articleship in both audit as well as equity research so it was a very rich experience for me as I got to work in various verticals. Both these experiences were very different. In audit I learned the importance of analysing data whereas in equity research it was more about how you present the ideas to others and the clarity of thought that you possess.

3) Which courses from CA have been the most useful?

I think SFM has definitely proven to be one of the most useful courses given that I wish to pursue my career in this field. Also taxation and law give you an insight into the Indian legal framework and places you one notch above those pursuing other courses in finance for eg. MBAs

4) In retrospect, what has been your expected/unexpected and most cherished gain from your CA journey?
I think CA has made me calmer as a person. What I have realised in this journey is that there are going to be moments where you will not know the answers to all the questions be it in your professional life or during the exams. On such occasions it is very important to be calm and focus on what you know.

5) Is there any key personal/professional experience which you have been immensely proud of and would like to share with readers?

I am currently working in an FMCG company in India and have been part of some key projects for the company and that gives me a sense of accomplishment

6)  Any words of advice for future CA aspirants?

Read well. The easiest path to quick success is education. It will give you a sense of empowerment that possibly nothing else in the world can. CA exams require a lot of amount of dedication and smartness. If you put in genuine efforts then I am sure you will be able to pass it with flying colours. And enjoy the process, because you are never going to get the student life back again!
