POSITION PURPOSE:
The position is responsible for assistance in indirect tax compliance, litigation and tax awareness in respect of following entities Legacy MIL, MHPL, MMB, BPPL, BCSL, BBPL, BZPPL, BPPL
The indirect tax in India primarily covers: GST (effective from July 2017), Erstwhile law (Central Excise, Service tax, VAT)
The purpose of the position is to adopt best and efficient indirect tax practices in the company to have minimum tax risk exposure, implementing tax changes in system and creating awareness to business and service departments to adhere tax requirement
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing replies for Show Cause Notices & representing before adjudication authorities for SCNs value up to INR 2.5 Mio. (Base tax amount) and
Assist in submitting paper book at Commission appeal and CESTAT (prepared by managers).
Reviewing past litigation cases periodically and making proper disclosure (probable, possible and remote as per AS29) in the books of accounts.
Guidance to Tax operation and cross Functional department on routine tax issues and audit queries.
To hold tax awareness sessions across all Bayer Legal entities in India to create an environment of understanding basic principles of tax by employees at all levels.
To interpret and update the company on legislative changes; ensure immediate implementation both in SAP as well as at the operational level.
To review various legal agreements/contracts from indirect tax perspective.
To Provide tax projection on quarterly basis to finance team for all legal entities.
Provide contingent liabilities details to Statutory Auditors and provide necessary explanations and information. Obtain Lawyer’s Letter during audit.
Ensure proper documentation in physical/soft form of all litigation cases.
Preparing internal budgeting, Purchase Requisitions, monthly provision through WPA entries, raising IPD for litigation tax deposits
WHO YOU ARE:
Chartered Accountant/Cost Accountant/MBA-Finance/Law graduates with high level of interpretative and communication skills
Minimum years 5 years of post-qualification experience in same domain.
In-depth knowledge of entire gamut of indirect tax in India i.e. GST Excise Duty, VAT and Service Tax
Confidence, conviction, perseverance are key qualities required to communicate with and influence people
Effective oral and written communication skills
Good interactive skills and Team player
Assertive in making effective representation
Diplomatic and effective in handling various tax issues & fair interpretation skill
