Job description
Position Title: Commercial Controller Positive Level: Middle level management Region/Market/Country: All India Current Job Location: Chennai Department: Finance Reporting to: Head of Finance Main Purpose of Job: Lead business/commercial finance team, drive agenda/priorities and manage stakeholders by demonstrating a strong controllership character, interpersonal skill and business acumen. Co-pilot to the Sales & Marketing by providing financial analysis and economic insight to assure/facilitate the optimal use of commercial resources. Ensure that Sales functions adhere to the financial, legal requirement and Preethi/Philips policies & practices. Key Output/Responsibilities: 1. Finalize product pricing water fall and TOT (terms of trade) for customers along with head of Marketing and sales. 2. Ensure company’s overall gross margin target is met and category/channel/state wise profitability improved. 3. Optimize Trade Spend investments and ensure that pre and post promotion performance analysis is completed; learning log is maintained and key learnings implemented. Challenge non-performance trade activities, if any. 4. Financial analysis of business performance, segment/geographies performance and Provide financial insights for business growth potential. Analyze profitability – optimize selling and product/channel mix 5. Oversee routine financial data management with a focus on timely accounts reconciliations/balance confirmation especially for Modern trade customers and essential hygiene. Plug value chain leakages and tighten control on AR (overdue) 6. Plans, directs and controls the sales planning process. Comprising: strategic reviews, budgets, rolling forecasts and monthly sales performance reporting. 7. Working closely with Sales/Marketing/service leads. Address issues faces by field force on time, ensure settlement of trade claims as per SLA, extend channel financing to desired customers, attend periodic business meet, go for market visit and update on business support score card. 8. Ensure accurate MEC (Month end closing), timely accounting and closure of trade activities. Be the custodian of internal controls and assure that trade spends practices comply with commercial policies. Ensures that proper business controls are maintained and the business adheres to the Philips code of conduct. 9. Identify impediments to a smooth order to cash (O2C) process and orchestrate action to mitigate. 10. Strengthen the existing commercial processes, Identify other process improvement areas and develop SOPs. 11. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, audits and related requirements. 12. Manages the finance team of the business, ensuring appropriate development of staff and matching capabilities to job requirements. Desired Profile: Qualified CA/ICWA/MBA (from reputed B. school only), with a minimum ~5-8 years’ experience. Previous experience of working in FMCD or FMCG companies will be preferred but not a constraint. Key Competencies: Strong controllership character, excellent interpersonal skill, ability to communicate at all level and across culturally and business acumen Depth and/or breadth of understanding of the professional area and to handle nonstandard financial situations; adapt according to the circumstances, development of new processes and procedures. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills demonstrating the ability to understand key financial drivers of the business.
